For some students, school is just not their thing. That's why we offer our TAFE at School programs.
These programs allow students to get a head start in the workforce by taking part in TAFE Queensland's vocational education and training (VET) options while they are in Year 11 and 12.
Students can choose to study TAFE at school through:
All students need to do is enrol in one of our courses as part of a TAFE at School program and attend a TAFE Queensland location one day per week during the school term over one or two years, completely dependent on the course they choose.
After you have discussed the options and helped the student make a decision on the right course, all you have to do is contact your local TAFE Queensland team. We will then send out the appropriate forms and enrolment documents so the student can get started.
TAFE Queensland offers a range of information events for school career guidance officers, parents and students.
At these events we outline the enrolment process, student rules and expectations, program plans, conduct tours of our facilities and outline exactly how to apply for the program.
For more information about the events and activities available in your local area, contact your local TAFE Queensland team.
Students need to know that they don't necessarily need to go to university to get somewhere in life. TAFE Queensland might be the answer for them.
In even better news, school leavers don't need an OP to apply for the majority of TAFE Queensland courses, although some of our high demand courses do require a QTAC application.
To find more specific course information please check out our online course search or contact your local TAFE Queensland team.
TAFE Queensland also offers a number of Queensland Government subsidies for school leavers including:
